DALLAS — The Yankees spent Monday afternoon at the Winter Meetings conducting an autopsy of the failed pursuit of Juan Soto. They’ll soon move on to other free agents, but not before identifying what went wrong with Soto and what lessons can be applied to the next big-name target. It might be easy to say Hal Steinbrenner didn’t try hard enough for Soto.
