STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The corner of Bard and Forest Avenues, in West Brighton, has been a popular gathering place for years.

While scrolling through Facebook, I stumbled upon an old photo that sparked memories of Carvel, which used to occupy the entire corner. On many weekend nights, teens would arrive in their cars and hang out while enjoying their frozen dessert. In the 1980s, the lot was sold, and a row of stores was built.

The new strip includes a smaller Carvel store compared to the original. However, the Starbucks and food storefronts still keep this corner hopping. The last vintage photo is of the opposite corner, Bard Motor Co.
