The Rock wants Cody Rhodes to be his champion.At the top of the third hour of Friday’s SmackDown, The Rock came out and ambiguously told Cody Rhodes that he wanted Rhodes to be ‘his champion’ before ultimately saying he wanted Cody’s soul. He told Cody that he would be at the Elimination Chamber next weekend, and he wanted an answer then.
The Rock first came out and officially announced that next year’s WrestleMania would be taking place at the Superdome in New Orleans. After that, he called Cody to the ring. Rock said that since WrestleMania 40 they had become good friends, and mentioned giving Cody his flowers during the Netflix premiere of Raw.
He reiterated that he was the most powerful person in WWE and touted his connections to TKO owner Ari Emanuel. He then told Cody that he wanted him to be his champion. Rhodes responded that he was their champion, referring to the crowd.
Rock said that he wanted to make Cody more than just the champion, mentioning his social media followers, and he could open doors for Cody that have never been opened before, he could even be his brother. Rock said that when Cody refused to step aside for him at WrestleMania 40, he knew Cody was special. Rock then asked Cody to become ‘his’ champion and would be at Elimination Chamber for his answer.
