The Repair Shop fans thrilled as show favourite makes rare visit to barn for first time

The Repair Shop legend Bill Paterson made a rare appearance on the set of the hit BBC show as it celebrates a new series looking back at some of the best repairs

A Repair Shop favourite has finally graced the set with his presence after seven years of being the programme's beloved narrator. Bill Paterson, the distinctive voice of the hit BBC series The Repair Shop, has paid a visit to the show's set for the first time. Despite being an integral part of the show for many years, Bill has never appeared on screen as he provides the narration that accompanies the heartwarming restorations carried out by the team.

Celebrating the launch of a new series that revisits some of the most memorable fixes, Bill took the opportunity to see where the magic happens in person. The Repair Shop's social media channels shared a snapshot of narrator Bill Paterson dropping by the set, captioning it: "After many years being the voice of the #TheRepairShop, look who finally popped in for a cup of mint tea! The new series, where we look back at some of our barn favourites with Bill Patterson, continues tonight [Wednesday] at 8pm on BBC One." Other notable talents include Kirsten Ramsay, who brings her expertise in European and oriental ceramics, and the Teddy Bear Ladies, Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell, who are renowned for breathing new life into cherished old toys. Lucia Scalisi, the painting conservator, joins clock expert Steve Fletcher, metal worker Dominic Chinea, goldsmith Richard Talman, and upholsterer Soonaz Nooranvary in imparting their specialised knowledge to viewers.
