A legend of The Repair Shop has visited the show's set for the first time - despite being on the programme for seven years. Bill Paterson is the voice behind the popular BBC show, which sees members of the public get their personal and sentimental items lovingly restored for the future. Whilst many of its stars appear on screen, Bill doesn't.

However, he has finally made a visit to the set of the show, to which he lends his voice, as they celebrate a new series of the BBC programme, which looks back at some of their favourite repairs over the years. Taking to social media, The Repair Shop showed a sweet picture of voice over Bill Paterson visiting the show. They wrote: "After many years being the voice of the #TheRepairShop , look who finally popped in for a cup of mint tea! "The new series, where we look back at some of our barn favourites with Bill Patterson, continues tonight [Wednesday] at 8pm on BBC One.

" Whilst Bill might not appear on screen, the show is home to many experts, including Will Kirk, who focuses on the restoration of wood items, and Suzie Fletcher, a leather worker and an expert on saddles. Kirsten Ramsay specialises in European and oriental ceramics, whilst Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell, affectionally known as the Teddy Bear Ladies, know all there is to know about restoring old toys, which is a regular feature on the show. Elsewhere, Lucia Scalisi (paintings), Steve Fletcher (clocks), Dominic Chinea (metal), Richard Talman (gold), and Soonaz Nooranvary (upholstery) also share their expertise with the public.

Fans of the show were thrilled to see Bill on the set and took to social media to share their thoughts. "One of my all time favourite actors and voice overs," one wrote, as a second added: "The perfect voice for The Repair Shop! Fabulous actor too!" A third penned: "Wonderful voice and perfect for the repair shop." A fourth added: "He has such a calming and distinctive voice.

Was great to tune in last week and see him. Looking forward to tonight," with a fifth shared: "His voice is so soothing and calm. Helps to relieve my stress and anxiety.

Keep up the good work!" *The Repair Shop airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer..
