A ROUND-UP of recent cases heard at Crawley Magistrates’ Court. Edley Marie , 38, of Brighton Road, Crawley, was jailed for four months for a breaking into a bike store and stealing bicycles on August 6, 2024 at Broadgate in Crawley, and jailed for a further one month for an assault by beating on January 15, 2024 at Crawley Hospital, for a total of five months imprisonment. The prison sentence was imposed on December 12, 2024, but was originally suspended for 12 months.
However, the suspension was lifted after Marie failed to comply with the suspended sentence order by failing to attend a planned probation office appointment on February 7, 2025. Maxwell pleaded guilty, have originally pleaded not guilty. Gavin Young , 39, of Bury Farm Road, Whiteley, must pay £458 in a fine, surcharge, and costs for keeping a vehicle that did not meet insurance requirements on August 17, 2023 at Littlehampton.
Young was not present, and the verdict was proven in his absence, after he had previously pleaded not guilty. William Martin Donald Keen , 32, of Cinders Lane, Yapton, must pay a total of £146 in a fine, costs, and a surcharge for driving a Volkswagen at 36mph in a 30mph zone on the A259 Marine Parade, Brighton, on August 10, 2024. He pleaded guilty, and his driving record was endorsed with three points.
Emma Louise Lee , 47, of Vanbrugh Close, Bewbush, Crawley, must pay £120 in a fine for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order by failing to attend an induction appointment on January 20, 2025, failing to attend an office appointment on February 6, 2025. She admitted the breach. Keagan Wade , 23, of Ifield Green, Ifield, Crawley, must pay £80 in fine and costs for failing to comply with a community order by failing to attend unpaid work appointments on January 20, 2025, January 27, 2025, and February 3, 2025.
