The Masters 2025 field in full as final invitation goes to waste

The field for The Masters at Augusta National has been confirmed, with 96 players set to compete for the green jacket when the tournament tees off on Thursday. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will defend the title he won for the second time in 2024, while Rory McIlroy heads to Georgia in fine form after two wins on the PGA Tour this season.

Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm are also among a long list of contenders chasing Masters glory. The field for the tournament was confirmed following Brian Harman's victory at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday. A last-minute invitation for The Masters was up for grabs to the winner at TPC San Antonio if they were not already qualified for the tournament.



Harman's victory at the 2023 Open Championship meant his ticket to Augusta was already secured, meaning the final invitation to the tournament was tossed in the trash. Andrew Novak was the leading contender to challenge Harman for the win and punch his ticket for The Masters, but he carded a four-over-par closing round in windy conditions to finish four shots back from Harman, who closed at nine-under-par, in a tie for third. Ryo Hisatsune and Chad Ramey also carded over-par closing rounds to blow their chances of not only picking up a career-best win but also bagging an invitation to The Masters.
