It’s good news for fans of the Emmy-winning HBO Original drama series, The Last Of Us . HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery announced that the show has been renewed for a third season this week ahead of its Season 2 debut scheduled for later this weekend.

The seven-episode second season debuts on Sunday, April 13 at 9:00 pm EST/PT on HBO. It will also be available to stream on Max. Season 2 continues the story five years after the events of the first season.



Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are drawn into a conflict with each other, anda world more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind. The new season also features returning cast members Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New cast members include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.

Catherine O’Hara will also guest star. Speaking on the Season 3 news via a press release, HBO Programming EVP Francesca Orsi stated, “It can’t be overemphasized how proud HBO is for the outstanding achievement we believe the second season of THE LAST OF US is.” The executive continued, “Craig, Neil, Carolyn and the entire executive producer team, cast and crew have delivered a masterful follow-up and we’re thrilled to carry the power of Craig and Neil’s storytelling into what we know will be an equally moving and extraordinary third season.

” Series creator, executive producer, writer, director, and creator Craig Mazin stated, “We approached season two with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew.” He added, “We look forward to continuing the story of THE LAST OF US with season three!” Co-creator, executive producer, writer, and director Neil Druckmann said on the news, “To see The Last of Us brought to life so beautifully and faithfully has been a career highlight for me, and I am grateful for the fans’ enthusiastic and overwhelming support.

” He continued, “Much of that success is thanks to my partner in crime, Craig Mazin, our partnership with HBO, and our team at PlayStation Productions. We’re thrilled to bring you more of THE LAST OF US !” The live-action series is based on the acclaimed video game franchised developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation consoles.

It’s written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It’s a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells; with writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross. The first season is available to stream now on Max.
