Sony's better-than-expected PS Portal device will no longer offer the best handheld experience for The Last of Us 2 Remastered , as developer Naughty Dog has confirmed the Steam Deck will be officially supported when the PC port arrives later this week. Rather than streaming the game from your PS5 via an internet connection, the PC version will be downloaded and then playable natively from a Steam Deck. This means there won't be any network-related issues to contend with and should play better in effectively every way — as long as there aren't any PC bugs or glitches.

The Last of Us has a history of dodgy PC ports after the first title stumbled out of the blocks, but was fixed in the many months following its release. The Last of Us 2 Remastered comes to PC on 3rd April 2025. Official Steam Deck support wasn't the focus for Naughty Dog when it ported the first game to PC, so the verification took a backseat as it fixed the original's disappointing port.

With the sequel, however, support is there from day one. Will you be playing The Last of Us 2 in this fashion? Let us know in the comments below..
