Tara Palmer-Tomkinson Tara Palmer-Tomkinson was one of the standout contestants from the inaugural series in 2002. The socialite, model, columnist and television presenter, also known as TP-T, appeared alongside Tony Blackburn, Christine Hamilton and Darren Day. Viewers loved her antics and the palpable chemistry between her and Darren.

She narrowly missed out on being crowned the first Queen of the Jungle, with Tony taking the title. TP-T and Darren's relationship was punctuated by a series of minor squabbles, one memorable instance being her objection to his continuous passing wind, with her exclaiming: "When you do that it makes me go 'yuck, I don't want to be near you'. I don't what to smell your insides 24/7.

" Tragically, TP-T passed away in February 2017, at the age of 45; her death was initially treated as unexplained. However, her sister later disclosed that she died from peritonitis and a perforated ulcer. The year before her passing, TP-T had been diagnosed with a prolactinoma, a benign tumour of the pituitary gland, and went public with the diagnosis in November.

Darrenposted on Twitter : "I'm so sad to hear that Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has passed away. Thoughts and love to her family RIP Tara." David Gest David Gest, an American producer and TV personality, had a number of reality TV appearances leading up to his death in 2016.

His time on 'I'm A Celebrity' in 2006 led him to a fourth-place finish, endearing him to audiences with his dry wit and outlandish anecdotes. One of David's most notorious stories involved his alleged maid, named Vaginica Seaman. "Her mother loved her body part so much, that she decided if she had a girl, she was going to call her Vaginica," he told his sceptical campmates.

"No bull." One of his challenges was Flash Flood, where he was confined to a tank and had to unscrew pipes, unleashing water and various creatures into the tank. He also had to dive for stars that emerged from the pipes alongside spiders, alligators, and eels.

It was a memorable year, with the camp featuring former newsreader Jan Leeming, who was frequently voted for trials; EastEnder Dean Gaffney, who left Ant and Dec in hysterics with his screams during trials; Jason Donovan; and winner Matt Willis. Apart from I'm A Celebrity, David - who was once married to Liza Minnelli - appeared on Soapstar Superstar and Celebrity Big Brother. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 62 after suffering a stroke in a London hotel.

Eric Bristow Eric Bristow, a world champion darts player, finished fourth in the 2012 series of I'm A Celebrity, telling Ant and Dec at the time: "I had a great time but I would have liked to make the last three. I would have liked to have a go at the grubs for my kids." The series was ultimately won by EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, with Doctor Who actor Colin Baker, Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, and Nadine Dorries MP also participating that year.

During his stint in the jungle, Eric formed a remarkable bond with Made in Chelsea's Hugo Taylor, declaring to his campmate, "I'm sure we'll be dear friends for the rest of our lives." The darts legend also stirred controversy when he made remarks about Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan’s skin and criticized her participation after repeated failures in Bushtucker Trials, bluntly questioning, "I don't understand why you're in here," and adding, "What did you think you was going to do here, drink milkshakes?" Eric passed away in April 2018 at the age of 60 due to a heart attack while attending a Premier League Darts event at Liverpool's Echo Arena. Freddie Starr Comedy icon Freddie Starr featured in the 2011 series of I'm A Celebrity but had to pull out on medical grounds.

Exiting the show after just two days, he said: "I was sorry to hear the news about what the doctors said - that I was allergic to something, to play it safe and best for me not to go back in." During his brief tenure, Freddie faced the infamous I'm A Celebrity eating trial alongside The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright, where he ate a fermented egg with a nonchalant smile. Also participating in the same series were Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton, Olympian Fatima Whitbread, and Benidorm’s Crissy Rock.

Freddie was found dead at his home in Mijas, on the Costa Del Sol, Spain, on May 9, 2019, aged 76. A post-mortem showed that he died from coronary artery disease. Bobby Ball Bobby Ball took part in the 2005 series of I'm A Celebrity, where he finished in sixth place.

The show featured other notable contestants, including EastEnders' Sid Owen, Emmerdale's Sheree Murphy, and antiques dealer and TV presenter David Dickinson. One memorable moment during his time on the show was when Bobby wore a pink catsuit for an impromptu fashion show in the camp, embracing his fun side as the "pink fairy". In a 2013 interview with The Mirror, Bobby recalled his jungle experience, saying: "I endured starvation, sickness and spider bites – but I missed Yvonne (his wife) like crazy.

" Sadly, Bobby passed away in October 2020 at the age of 76 due to complications from Covid-19 . Annabel Giles TV presenter Annabel Giles was a late entrant into the jungle in 2013, and was the first celebrity to be voted out. She died aged 64 in November 2023, four months after being diagnosed with glioblastoma - an aggressive form of brain cancer.
