'The feedback from people has been amazing': Bolton Hospice shop opens

A much-loved and highly anticipated charity shop returned to Little Lever today and officially opened its doors to members of the public.

A much-loved and highly anticipated charity shop returned to Little Lever on Friday and officially opened its doors to members of the public. Bolton Hospice’s new " Little Lever Super Store" opened at 10am in Market Street, bringing a revitalised shopping experience to the heart of the community. Mayor Andy Morgan and mayoress Karen Holdsworth attended the opening to greet volunteers.

(Image: Bolton Hospice) Also in attendance was Bolton mayor Cllr Andy Morgan and mayoress Karen Holdsworth to cut the ribbon for the new premises. The much-needed upgrade provides significantly more floor space, allowing the hospice to showcase a wider range of quality donated goods, including ladieswear, menswear, pre-loved books, toys, and homeware. The new premises also features a larger sorting area for the dedicated team of seven new volunteers.

(Image: Bolton Hospice) Looking around, I was pleasantly surprised to find lots of popular clothing brands in store such as Adidas, Reebok and even a handbag from Dior! There was also this jazzy jumper, which was snapped up very quickly. This funky cardigan was snapped up quickly.

The mayor and mayoress stopped to chat to volunteers (Image: Bolton Hospice) “The new location is a lot more spacious and a lot more accessible for people, there’s a full range of prices and so far the feedback from people has been amazing, they’ve missed us on the high street. “We want to give a big welcome to our new and returning customers, we’re excited to continue to serve the community in Little Lever.” Behind the scenes, the hospice has been working with suppliers to refresh its retail brand and create a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere for shoppers.

(Image: Bolton Hospice) With an exclusively curated selection of clothes, shoes, accessories, homeware, toys and games, bric-a-brac and more, all for the bargain prices customers are familiar with. The success of the new store relies on the incredible support of its volunteers, and the hospice is actively seeking more individuals to join their friendly team.

A variety of roles are available, with no prior retail experience necessary as full training is provided. The new store is located on Market Street. A spokesperson for Bolton Hospice said: "Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our shops. "Their diverse backgrounds and dedication make our team truly special, and we'd love to welcome more people to help us raise vital funds for patient care.".
