In other words, a significant number of workers are being replaced by AI systems that perform tasks faster and at a lower cost. Previously, technological disruptions mainly affected factory work. Today, AI is beginning to displace knowledge-based jobs—teachers, writers, software developers—all once considered secure from automation.



Adding to the concern is the concentration of AI power in the hands of a few wealthy companies, mostly in the US and China. These corporations have access to vast resources and are driving a global AI race that risks deepening the divide between rich and poor nations. Alarmingly, just 100 companies are responsible for 40% of the world’s AI research and development.

Stronger laws are needed to protect jobs and ensure AI technologies are used for the public good—not just for profit or the benefit of a few countries.
