The latest was Tuesday night's shutout of the Giants in San Francisco."We've played in four (1-0 games) so far, which is astronomical for this time of year," Reds manager Terry Francona said after the game.
"It's pretty crazy," Fanduel Sports Network's Sam LeCure said after Tuesday's game. "I don't know if I've ever seen anything like it."The Reds lost 1-0 at home to the Texas Rangers on April 1 and April 2, and fell 1-0 to the Brewers in Milwaukee on April 3.
The only other team in the Live Ball Era (since 1920) to lose three consecutive 1-0 games was the 1960 Phillies.The Cleveland Guardians won their home opener 1-0 Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox.The Los Angeles Angels defeated the White Sox 1-0 on March 29, the same day the San Diego Padres beat the Atlanta Braves 1-0.
Now Cincinnati has shutouts of the Giants in San Francisco on consecutive nights. The Reds also are the only MLB team to defeat the 8-3 Giants so far this season.Outfielder Jake Fraley's diving catch just shy of the wall in right field to end the 5th inning helped preserve Tuesday's shutout.
