The 41-year-old Mordialloc woman was found dead alongside a 38-year-old St Kilda man, who is suspected of carrying out the deadly attack. Witnesses have told reporters at the scene they approached the feuding pair around 11am on Thursday in an effort to 'ease the tension'.
It remains unclear how the pair died, with Detective Inspector Scott Dwyer revealing little more than confirming the deceased were known to each other. On Thursday, Sherele Moody, who runs a website recording the number of women killed across Australia, claimed she had been contacted by someone who confirmed the awful allegations. 'The male has killed himself.
I have confirmed they were separated and he contacted his mother telling her he planned on killing the woman,' she told her followers on social media. 'They had divorced quite recently.' Daily Mail Australia has contacted Ms Moody and Victoria Police to clarify the statement.
The discovery came after one of the victim's colleagues called triple zero. A neighbour said she heard a 'blood-curdling scream' after a woman discovered the bodies just before 11am on Thursday (pictured, detectives arrive at the scene in Mordialloc) Forensics, police and SES crews were at the taped-off scene on Thursday Other witnesses claimed to have seen and heard a vehicle tearing away from the scene shortly after the pair are believed to have died. Ange Notta told the Herald Sun he heard a car speed from the street moments before the grim discovery.
'I heard a car, it just fanged off, which was unusual, I just thought it was someone leaving the street in a distressed manner,' he said. 'Just heard the car and screeching wheels.' Mr Notta claimed detectives had asked neighbours if they had noticed a yellow Volkswagen in the area.
The man and woman were discovered in a property on James Sreet in Mordialloc in Melbourne's southeast (police and SES crews are pictured at the scene) However police later told Daily Mail Australia the car is no longer believed to have been involved in the tragedy. The pair were discovered in a property on James Street in Mordialloc, in the city's south-east, just before 11am on Thursday. Photos from the scene show SES crews assisting police as a crime scene was established on the residential street.
Neighbour Jade Lindsay said she heard a loud scream from a 'very distressed' woman who had discovered the bodies. 'It was a really distressing, blood curdling scream that really scared me because it was so prolonged,' she told the Herald Sun . 'It's a pretty distressing thing to hear.
.. obviously that lady who screamed was very distressed.
' Ms Lindsay said a man and a woman, believed to be in their 30s, were pacing up and down the pavement outside the home. She saw the man stop and put his head in his hands. Victoria Police said they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths.
'The circumstances surrounding the deaths are yet to be determined,' police said. 'Officers have cordoned off the area and a crime scene has been established.' There is no threat to the community.
