The Chase’s Mark Labbett has broken his silence on his split from his girlfriend Hayley Palmer after just over a year together. The popular Chase player, who goes by the nickname The Beast, split from TV presenter Hayley a few days after their one-year anniversary — with Hayley claiming that the break up was down to the fact that he didn’t want to divorce his ex-wife Katie. However, Mark has since offered a different perspective on the break up, saying that he and Hayley split simply because ‘I got old.

it’s me, I got old,’ Mark told the Sun. He added that while he may find love again, he’s currently single and is not looking for a new partner. ‘There’s been no one since Hayley, I’m not saying there won’t be another one.
But I’m certainly not looking. I joke I am a shed man – a guy of a certain age that’s quite content being in or out of a relationship – but loves to be spending time on their own. ‘It’s primal, I think it goes all the way back to the hunter-gatherers where the man would go off a lot of time on their own,’ he continued.
‘To be fair it’s not just men, there are people who actually like their own company.’ Mark admitted that he’s comfortable in single life, especially after spending so many years single, and that while he has had his fair share of DM slides from women, he’s comfortable doing his own thing. ‘I’m 59 now, I’ve reached the sort of slippers and comfy chair kind of thing,’ he said.
‘Right now I’m in my PJs and pottering around the place.’ ‘I’m settled down a little bit. I am an old man, I might not look it but I am.
I’m quite content doing my own thing.’ Mark was married to his ex-wife Katie, who was also his second cousin, from 2014 to 2020. he began seeing Hayley early last year, before the couple announced their split earlier this year.
