"I’ve been reflecting on how to truly express my honest thoughts and feelings," Sunwoo said. THE BOYZ’s member Sunwoo is receiving much backlash for his alleged rude behaviour towards a staff member. In a fan-recorded video, the idol was seen getting into an elevator when he suddenly noticed that his AirPods had fallen outside.

After he called out, “My AirPods," a security guard nearby picked them up and handed them over to him. When the video went viral, some thought that Sunwoo sounded rude and acted disrespectfully towards the guard. Following this incident, the 25-year-old member of THE BOYZ issued a personal apology on Monday, April 14.

“I’ve been reflecting on how to truly express my honest thoughts and feelings, and I was worried that I might write something that doesn’t come from the heart," Sunwoo began his apology, as quoted by Soompi. He reflected on his actions during the said incident, emphasising that his intention was not to hurt anyone by his words or actions. Sunwoo added, “Because of my personal thoughts and words that lacked rationality, the intention behind what I wanted to convey became distorted.

Even though I had no such intentions at all, I failed to be mindful of my words and actions, which led those who heard me to feel hurt by what I said and did while I was overwhelmed by emotion. For that, I sincerely apologise." THE BOYZ’s rapper further stated that he wrote the apology not just to move past the incident but to reflect on the incident that unfolded truly.

“From the beginning, I lacked the maturity to respond properly. And in trying to defend myself from the pain caused by harsh criticism, I ended up hurting many others with my words and behaviour," he explained. Sunwoo shared that he was not simply asking for forgiveness, nor was he saying that he was “misunderstood," but he wanted to acknowledge that “perhaps I truly was that kind of person to them.

" He continued, “What I need to do now is prove—to both you and myself—that I am not that person, that I am someone who truly values people, relationships, and hearts. Even if it takes time, I will show you this." Towards the end, the idol mentioned that his letter was a sincere apology to those who criticised him for his “mistakes and immaturity" and those who might have felt hurt because of his actions.

Sunwoo concluded his letter, saying, “And to THE Bs who have given me their love—I’m truly sorry." Previously, THE BOYZ’s agency ONE HUNDRED also released a statement regarding the incident, stating that Sunwoo was reflecting on his actions. They also warned of legal actions against malicious comments on the internet.
