From to , contestants have certainly made some bold choices on this year’s season of the reality show. While their all-important kitchen renovations are yet to be revealed, viewers were shocked by one team’s questionable decision during Wednesday night's episode. As co-hosts and did their weekly walk-through of the contestants’ homes, they arrived at House 3 just as were painting the curved timber on their island bench.

Not only were fans baffled that the best friends would choose to cover the timber panelling with white paint, but they were also confused about why the hosts didn’t say anything about it. “My heart sank when I saw Ricky destroying the beautiful timber. Insanity!” one person wrote, while another added, “I thought that too! Why not stain it?” “It's sacrilege! Hiding that gorgeous timber behind a terrible paint job,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said, “It broke my heart to see them paint it white”.

“Just imagine the wear and tear on the paint,” a different user commented, with another writing, “Exactly what my partner said! He was horrified (he's a tradie)”. “I cringed, why would you paint it? It looks cheap and nasty now,” one viewer remarked. While a majority of people called it a “big mistake” and agreed they should have varnished the timber, a handful of people were hopeful that the boys could still take out the win.

“It will look great and be a point of difference to the other timber kitchens,” a fan commented, while another agreed, “It looked ok in the end”. “Too late to comment now, over and done with until we see the completed room,” someone else said. Ricky and Haydn aren’t the only team making some big swings this week, with raising eyebrows with their green oven as the centrepiece in their kitchen.

“I’m just scared the judges will say it looks like Shrek's kitchen,” Mimi admitted in Wednesday night's episode, with several viewers agreeing that they see the resemblance. Speaking with about the bold choice, Kristian and Mimi admit they’re excited for people to “hopefully change their minds” once they see the finished product in Sunday night's episode. “95 per cent of the comments are just so anti-green oven.

They’re just like, ‘That’s disgusting’ and everyone's writing vomit faces,” Kristian laughs. “But we know that our kitchen is beautiful. And even if they still don't agree with it, once our living and dining space is complete, I feel like we could change 65% of what the people are thinking right now.

” “Some of them are even smart enough to be like, we all kind of judged 's kitchen last year which had an orange oven, but they won [kitchen week] and they did really well and it looked great. So they’re kind of holding their judgement,” Mimi adds. “Also, that render doesn't do that green any justice.
