While many of you have been pranking your friends for April Fool’s Day, businesses and brands have been at it too - advertising fake products or services on Tuesday. Emirates, and Subway are among the companies to have got involved in the fun, while celebrities have posted bogus endorsements. Look out as well for made-up stories, providing a more innocent take on the concept of fake news.

None were perhaps up to the standard of the spaghetti harvest or the remote control touring car , but they were at least a step up from Andy Murray’s joke in 2014 that was so unfunny that nobody noticed . We’ve ranked them into categories of being slightly believable, a big stretch and totally abused.
