A small seaside town in Scotland has been touted as o ne of the best places to visit in the UK , even in the winter. Lossiemouth, up in the northeast of Scotland, is attracting visitors thanks to its natural beauty. It is located in Moray and has been branded the "Jewel of Moray Firth.

" One of the major pull factors that attracts tourists to Lossiemouth is the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. It also has two sand beaches where you can relax. East Beach has a surf school and is now linked to the town thanks to the opening of a bridge.

While many love to participate in watersports, Lossiemouth is also a great place to see dolphins and even orcas. You can take a boat tour to Burghead, the best place to look out for them. The Fisheries Museum offers an insight into the town's history.

Alternatively, you can use Lossiemouth as a base to visit other parts of Scotland. The town is a 70-minute drive from Inverness and a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Dundee. One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: "Been going here since I was a child and it's changed as the years go by but it never disappoints :) It can be raining and grim at home and an Indian summer here; my grandmother always said Lossiemouth was 'God's Little Acres'.

It's always a good day out, some ice cream and a walk on the beach." Another said: "Beautiful views that are panoramic looking out to sea and over Lossiemouth town. "Parking is ample, both on the street and within the car park and at the end of the town.

There is always room, the only issue is some times campervans occupy many spaces. "Plenty of places to eat and drink right next to the beach, including ice cream shops." A third added: "We stayed at Lossiemouth bay caravan park in the cottage was the best holiday in Scotland ever.

Accommodation was amazing lovely big cottage with stunning features was immaculate thanks Park holidays. "The beach here is beautiful with a newly built bridge to walk over, plenty of eating places. Would highly recommend visiting beautiful wee town.
