The “torpedo bat” that the New York Yankees made famous over MLB’s opening weekend seems to have a new high-profile convert. Cincinnati Reds 23-year-old star Elly De La Cruz tried it out on Monday night against the Texas Rangers and had a nice night to say the least. De La Cruz went 4-for-5 with a single, double and two home runs to go with seven RBI in the 14-3 shellacking of Texas.
Despite the success, manager Terry Francona echoed what most players and managers have said about the bats. “I think it’s more about the player than the bat,” Francona said, via ESPN . Which brings us to today’s quiz.
De La Cruz was already one of the most exciting young hitters in MLB before switching up his lumber. With that being said, how many of the players in Major League Baseball to record at least 60 extra-base hits in 2024 can you name in five minutes? Good luck! Did you like this quiz?
