It was reported that he had lured Saldivar under the guise of taking promotional photos for a new track before attempting to rob and ultimately shooting him. Tay-K's defense argued during the trial that the investigation was inadequate and did not establish his guilt beyond reasonable doubt.

His lawyer, John Hunter, claimed, "Taymor McIntyre is not guilty of capital murder, murder, or manslaughter, and the reason for that is very simple." Hunter further criticized the investigative process, saying, "You have to do it right. You have to do the work.

And this case clearly demonstrates the work wasn't done." Although acquitted of capital murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence without parole, the jury convicted McIntyre of murder, reports the Mirror US . Previously, in 2019, McIntyre was found guilty for the murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker.
