This week, three of the conference’s top six teams have bye weeks, but as always, there’s no shortage of storylines.

Here’s five to keep an eye on during Week 10 of action in a wide-open SEC. 1. Marcel Reed’s expected start Texas A&M coach Mike Elko has not said which quarterback he’ll start Saturday at South Carolina.

But it’d be difficult not to trot out freshman Marcel Reed. Elko inserted him into the Aggies’ big win over LSU last week, and he led their offense to a dominant second half that gave them sole possession of first place in the SEC. South Carolina’s a tough test, but it looks like Reed might be ready to take over the conference’s new top team.

2. Nico Iamaleava’s progress It hasn’t been the season that some expected Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava to have. But the redshirt freshman might have figured something out the last time we saw the No.

7 Vols play, when they held on to a win over Alabama at home. Iamaleava, who’s struggled to find consistency all season, made a couple crucial throws in the second half. If he can build on that performance moving forward, then Tennessee could make noise in the College Football Playoff.

3. DJ Lagway’s big test Florida had an off week after its offense dropped 48 points on Kentucky, which entered the game with one of the 10 best scoring defenses in the country. Now comes an even bigger test for the Gators and freshman quarterback DJ Lagway: No.

2 Georgia, a team that held Texas’ explosive offense to just 15 points two weeks ago. Can Florida give the Bulldogs a competitive game? If not, then it may be in for a rough final stretch of the season. 4.

Auburn’s familiar foil Last season, an unknown quarterback helped New Mexico State upset Auburn. That signal caller is more famous now: His name is Diego Pavia, and he’s one of the best stories in college football. His play has helped Vanderbilt have one of the most memorable seasons in program history, and a win this week makes the Commodores bowl eligible for the first time since 2018.

They just have to beat Auburn on the road, something Pavia has done before. 5. Arkansas’ offense It got overshadowed by a couple of the more notable games in the conference, but Arkansas scored – and this isn’t a typo – 58 points on the road at Mississippi State.

Quarterback Taylen Green threw for 314 yards and five touchdowns, and the Razorbacks rushed 37 times for 359 yards and two scores. Ole Miss is a different challenge – the No. 19 Rebels have the nation’s No.
