TEXARKANA, Ark. — Young poets from the Salvation Army of Texarkana's Boys and Girls Club took center stage at their first poetry slam, held in partnership with the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council. The event provided a platform for young people to express themselves through poetry, sharing their emotions and experiences with the audience.

Host Tashia Mayo praised the poets for their talent and courage. "It's incredible to see these kids put their hearts and souls into their poetry," she said. "They're not just reciting words; they're sharing their stories.

" Mayo, who has been writing poetry since the age of 13, has traveled extensively to share her work. She encourages young poets to embrace their unique voices and use poetry as a tool for self-expression and social change..
