Vadodara: A housing colony in Bhayli witnessed tense moments on Monday when certain religious flags were installed on buildings. Police went to the spot and calmed down locals who protested against the flags being installed during the Ganesh festivals there. Rohan Anand , superintendent of police (rural), Vadodara, said they are investigating whether someone tried to spread unrest deliberately.

"We received information that green flags were installed on 10 buildings in the colony late on Sunday night where the Ganesh festival is being celebrated. Our team reached the spot and pacified the locals. The flags were religious ones," Anand said.

"The flags were removed by some people after we convinced them to take them down and display them during their festival," Anand added. Police are in the process of identifying local residents and ascertaining if outsiders were involved in the incident. Anand added that police teams are on alert to ensure that no untoward incident occurs.
