Prayagraj: Panic gripped Ram Nagar Kanupur village and adjoining areas of Pratapgarh on Thursday following the recovery of the body of a Dalit man about 100m from his house. This was the second incident reported in the gram sabha within 72 hours. On March 25, a 40-year-old home guard was found murdered about 300m from his house in the same village.
Upon being alerted, senior police officials, including SP (Pratapgarh), along with forensic experts and forces, rushed to the spot and carried out investigations. The deceased was identified as Nagendra Saroj (33). The body was sent for postmortem.
Cops said the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after postmortem report arrives. Senior cops interacted with family members of the deceased to compile more details. Two police teams have been formed to crack the case.
