"I have started carrying two water bottles and a wet towel to survive the afternoon heat. Even at home, I have to cool off with a wet towel as my airconditioner conked off for a day recently," he said. Anjali Mhaske, a college student from Lohegaon, said, "I stay in a PG accommodation and do not have an airconditioner.

Even with fans running at full speed, it's difficult to study or sleep properly. While day temperatures are very high, even the nights feel unusually warm and humid." An IMD forecast showed that there would be no significant change in maximum temperatures across Maharashtra during the next five days, followed by a fall of 2-3 degrees for the subsequent two days.

The Vidarbha region might get some relief as IMD has predicted thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40kmph) in isolated places of Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal during the next few days. No rainfall is expected in other parts of the state in the next few days, including Pune. An IMD forecast for Pune city stated that day temperatures were likely to remain in the range of 40-42°C over the next few days, while night temperatures were likely to be in the range of 21-22°C.
