A teenager will stand trial next year after police were called to reports of two men hiding at a construction site. Kenzie Edie, 19, and his co-accused Declan Foster, 18, were listed to attend Teesside Magistrates' Court, on Friday, after two men were allegedly caught hiding behind vehicles at West Road Construction Site, in Loftus, on July 21. Prosecutor Carolyn Craggs said Cleveland Police attended the scene at around 4am after being called by a security firm monitoring the site.
The charge states the pair were allegedly found in the enclosed area, "for an unlawful purpose, namely with intent to steal". Edie, of Stichill Stables, Kelso, on the Scottish border, appeared in the dock on Friday morning where he denied being a vagrant. Magistrates told the teen he will face trial at the same court on February 19 and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Foster, of Inchmyre, Kelso, after he failed to attend the hearing.
Edie was granted unconditional bail. Teesside Live is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join our community. Through the app, we'll send you the latest breaking news, top stories, exclusives and much more straight to your phone.
