Article content A 14-year-old boy is dead after a truck crashed into a broken-down commercial truck near Athabasca Monday. Mounties and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision around 6:30 p.m.
Monday on Highway 2 near Range Road 232, west of Athabasca, RCMP said in a Tuesday news release. Police said a pickup truck was driving west on Highway 2 when it crashed into a broken-down commercial truck. The 14-year-old boy, a passenger in the pickup, was declared dead on scene by emergency crews.
Both drivers were injured. Mounties say they’re still investigating the cause of the crash, but they don’t think it was caused by alcohol or drug use. rostad@postmedia.
