The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp has shared the debilitating symptoms she endured before discovering multiple "plumb-sized" brain tumors . In a heart-wrenching interview on ABC's Nightline, the 43-year-old revealed t he alarming symptoms that led to her diagnosis. Teddi, a fan favorite during her time on the show from 2017 to 2020, had shifted her focus to her family, business, and podcasting endeavors with fellow Housewives star Tamra Judge after leaving the series.
However, her life took a dramatic turn when she began experiencing excruciating headaches that persisted for months, ultimately resulting in vision loss. Michael J Fox's life turned upside down after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease Al Pacino and Robert De Niro's iconic Heat moment that fans are hoping to see in sequel Describing the terrifying moment she lost her sight, Teddi recounted to Deborah Roberts, "I couldn't see. I mean, I could barely get down the stairs.
" Prompted by her distress, Teddi reached out to her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave, who swiftly took action and rushed her to the emergency room. She recalled, "That's when they said I had four plumb-size tumors in my brain and then within the next day I was in surgery." As she regained consciousness, Teddi remembered seeing her entire family gathered around her, including her father, sister, brothers and close friends.
She said, "My first real memory was looking up and my entire family was there. "My dad, my sister, my brothers, all of my best friends, and I'm being like, 'Hold on, why are y'all here? And chatting? This must be bad'." After receiving her shock diagnosis, Teddi underwent radiation therapy to shrink the remaining tumors , which had also spread to her lungs.
She captured hearts on social media by posting a video of the poignant moment she rang the hospital's bell, signaling the completion of her treatment. Teddi, a health coach by profession, has opted for immunotherapy as her treatment path. She candidly shared with her followers, "One of my favorite things to ask is 'How long I got?' or 'What are my chances?' and they oftentimes say 'fifty-fifty.
'" She humorously critiqued the odds given to her, saying, "Fifty-fifty? I wouldn't buy a car that's only gonna drive 50 percent chance of the time. I don't want this." The medical team clarified that her odds were down to the fact that immunotherapy has been in use for only about 10 years.
Despite striving to stay upbeat, Teddi confessed that humor has been her refuge during tough times, admitting that without it, she "would cry." "If I didn't find humor, I would cry," she said. "Even with my kids, like, the other day, we kept forgetting something and we'd all just go 'the tumours'.
" Her estranged husband Edwin has remained supportive throughout her health battle. On his podcast, The Eds, he expressed that being there for Teddi was second nature, "People think that's hard, but for me, that's just what I do. Like it's no matter what, I will always love Teddi and she's been a big part of my life.
And I like taking care of people, it's just what I do. So it wasn't even like, a question.".
