Techie loses ₹36.5L to online task fraud

Pune: A 26-year-old woman techie from Punawale of Pimpri Chinchwad lost Rs36.44 lakh to fraudsters in an online task fraud between Aug 12 and 29. The woman lodged a complaint with the Ravet police.

Senior inspector Nitin Phatangare of the Ravet police said the fraudsters initially credited around Rs3-4 lakh to her online account. When she wanted to withdraw it, crooks asked her more money, he said. The victim was asked to transfer money to various accounts, for which she took a loan of Rs 22 lakh, he said.
