Nima Momeni was found guilty of second-degree murder on Tuesday in the fatal stabbing of Cash App founder Bob Lee , according to the NBC Bay Area . The outlet reported that a San Francisco jury rejected the tech consultant’s claim that he acted in self defense, and that he faces 16 years to life in prison. A status hearing to determine the sentencing date was set for Jan.

Momeni was arrested on April 13, 2023, for Lee’s murder , nearly two weeks after Lee had been found dripping blood and calling for help on the streets of San Francisco. The Cash App founder was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Prosecutors argued that Momeni planned the attack on Lee, driving him to a secluded area under the Bay Bridge.

The said Momeni was angry at Lee for introducing his younger sister to a drug dealer she said gave drugs and then sexually assaulted her, and that Momeni stabbed Lee three times. Momeni claimed that he didn’t realize he had fatally stabbed Lee or that he had wounded him.

“We think justice was done here today,” Lee’s brother, Tim Oliver, told the outlet. “What matters today is that we had a guilty verdict and Nima Momeni is going away for a very long time.”.
