A teal candidate has apologised for making a sexual joke to a 19-year-old hairdresser, which she has admitted was a poor attempt at humour. Independent Nicolette Boele, who is running to take Sydney’s north shore seat of Bradfield from the Liberals, has been banned from a local hairdressing salon after she allegedly told the female hairdresser that her hair wash “was so good and I didn’t even have sex with you”. Teal candidate for Bradfield Nicolette Boele has apologised.

Fletcher has now retired. “It was a poor attempt at humour and I’ve apologised,” Boele said in a statement.
“Everyone deserves to feel respected in their workplace and I’ll do better.” The Bradfield electorate includes Sydney suburbs Chatswood, Pymble and Killara. It has been held by Fletcher since 2009 and is now a tight contest between Boele and Liberal candidate Gisele Kapterian.
During the 2022 election, Fletcher nearly lost his seat to Boele as the seat has a 2.5 per cent margin. More to come.
