TCS Reverses Declining Headcount Trend With Bold Hiring Surge: 40,000 Freshers To Join This Fiscal

New Delhi: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reversed the declining headcount trend as the company hired 5,726 employees in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, a report said. This makes it the second quarter in a row that the company has increased the workforce. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, the company reversed the declining headcount trend by adding 5452 employees.

Earlier, there was a drop in the workforce for three consecutive quarters. TCS' total employee count reached 612,724 in September 2023, a significant increase from the previous quarter. The company which is known for hiring a bulk of fresh talents, recruited over 11,000 new associates in the first half of the year.



Milind Lakkad, the TCS's Chief HR Officer, expressed confidence in company's hiring strategy and said that there is a detailed plan to remain on track for trainee onboarding and have already initiated the campus hiring process for the next fiscal year. TCS is planning to hire 40,000 freshers in the ongoing fiscal year ending March 2025. “We have also commenced the campus hiring process for FY26.

Our strong talent base and increased learning intensity prepares us well for the complex technology transformations that customers entrust us with,” TOI quoted Lakkad as saying. IN FY24, the company for the first time reported annual employee reduction in 19 years. There was a dip by 13,249 employees compared to the previous year.

In the most recent quarter, attrition slightly rose to 12.3%, up from 12.1% in Q1, but it remains lower than the 14.

9% recorded in the same quarter last year. On the financial front, TCS achieved a 5% increase in net profit, reaching Rs 11,909 crore for the second quarter, although this fell short of analyst expectations. Revenue for the quarter rose by 7.
