Taylor Swift officially endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for president in 2024. The iconic music star announced her endorsement earlier this month. Swift made her announcement shortly after the first - and likely only - presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Swift made it clear that she was supportive of Harris and Walz's policies and leanings. She added that she was a fan of them as people, too. Ultimately, the endorsement wasn't too surprising, but it was still a big deal for Harris and the Democrats, heading into the presidential election in a little more than a month.

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.

I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz , who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades," she explained. "I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.

I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story." Icon Sportswire/Getty Images This is not the first time Taylor Swift has spoken out politically.

In 2018, she endorsed Democratic candidates in her home state of Tennessee. This was a move that worried her parents, especially her father, Scott. “I’ve read the entire [statement] and .

.. right now, I’m terrified.

I’m the guy that went out and bought armored cars,” Swift's dad, Scott, told her daughter. Swift, though, went through with the endorsement, much like she did with the support of Kamala and Tim. Still, Taylor understood where her parents were coming from.

“This was a situation where, from a humanity perspective, and from what my moral compass was telling me I needed to do, I knew was right, and I really didn’t care about repercussions,” she told Vanity Fair . “My dad is terrified of threats against my safety and my life, and he has to see how many stalkers we deal with on a daily basis, and know that this is his kid. It’s where he comes from.

” Everyone just wants their children to be safe, so it's tough to blame the Swift parents for being bothered by the decision. Related: Travis, Jason Kelce's Parents Waited To Get Divorced For Important Reason.
