Taylor and Brittany were seen sharing a lil’ hug in their suite, quashing all rumours of their feud that have been flying around.
So why are they feuding? Or rather, why do Swifties wish they were feuding? DW, we’ve got you covered. Why do Swifties want Taylor Swift to drop Brittany Mahomes? In case you’re totally lost when it comes to who these people are or what on earth this feud is about, let me break it down. Taylor and Brittany’s friendship blossomed when they started watching some Kansas City Chiefs games together.
They’ve been spotted going out for dinner together and even have a secret handshake they whip out on game days. In August, Swifties noticed Brittany Mahomes liked one of ’s posts on Instagram. The post itself laid out 20 points Trump planned on putting into motion if he was elected.
They were about as stupid as you expect, and you *may* lose a few brain cells reading them all. After being called out by Swifties (they’re kinda terrifying, NGL), Brittany shared a statement defending herself on her Instagram Story. “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.
There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well,” she said. She was also spotted on her Instagram account (which have now been removed), so she made it kinda clear where she stands. In a bizarre turn of events, Trump himself then gave Brittany a shout-out on his Truth Social account.
“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” he wrote. “What a great couple — see you both at the Super Bowl!” Now, back to the whole Taylor Swift of it all! Tay Tay famously stayed out of politics until the 2018 midterm elections in her home state of Tennessee, when she publicly endorsed the Democratic candidate. In the 2020 documentary , she revealed her regrets about not speaking up against Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
“I can’t change that...
[but now], I need to be on the right side of history,” she said in the documentary, explaining why she decided to speak up about politics. “It’s really basic human rights, and it’s right and wrong at this point.” So, after the whole Brittany and Trump scandal, you’d think Taylor would avoid being seen with her, right? Well, it seemed that way for a hot sec.
On September 5, Taylor and Brittany attended the Chiefs’ first game for the season, but weren’t spotted together. They actually sat in separate suites, so rumours of their rift started to take off. Aaaaand that brings us back to the US Open, where it looks like Brittany and Taylor are actually still on good terms.
The group shared a suite and seemed perfectly civil with one another. X (formerly known as Twitter) has been flooded with tweets from Swifties who are pretty pissed about the whole situation. It could be that the pair are having to play nice for the sake of their partners.
Or, perhaps she’s a billionaire who doesn’t *really* need to worry about politics since it doesn’t affect her? Either way, it’s not the best look for the pop star..
