The Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh variants have bagged a 5-star safety rating in crash assessments by Bharat NCAP. The 45kWh version of the EV SUV has received a score of 29.86 out of a possible 32 for adult occupant protection , and 44.

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, and feet received a ‘good’ protection rating, while the chest and tibia were rated ‘adequate’. For the front passenger, protection for the head, neck, chest, pelvis, thighs, and left tibia was rated ‘good’, with the right tibia assessed as ‘adequate’. Talking about the battery pack and e-motor, the Nexon EV 45 kWh unit gets prismatic cells and has a volumetric density of 186wh/lit and 15 per cent higher energy density. Tata Motors says that the prismatic cell format is more reliable, improves the battery capacity reduces charging time by 29 per cent and brings down the timings from 56 to 40 minutes. The model has a claimed range of 489km on a full charge with its C75 (real-world estimate) range being 350-370km.

Talking about the charging, Tata Motors says it can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 40 minutes using a charger greater than 60kW.
