Tata Motors had a mixed time in Oct 2024 domestic sales as volumes were almost identical to the same month last year Tata Motors, the home-grown automaker, has bagged the fourth position in domestic monthly sales of Oct 2024 in India by selling 48,133 units. Despite the huge demand in the market for the Punch and Nexon last month, the company couldn’t register growth as it had retailed 48,343 in Oct 2023 as well. However, Tata improved its sales tally from Sep 2024 when it had only managed to sell 41,065 units.
It currently retails 8 models in the Indian market which includes hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs. Below is a detailed break-up of model-wise domestic sales in Oct 2024. Tata Punch was the star performer in the brand’s portfolio with total sales of 15,740 units in Oct 2024.
Though it witnessed a growth of only 3 percent (Oct 2023 – 15,317 units). The Nexon was not much behind as 14,759 units of the SUV were sold in Oct 2024 as compared to 16,887 units in Oct 2023. The newly-launched Tata Currv made a significant mark with volumes of 5,351 units last month.
The fourth and fifth spots were occupied by the hatchback models namely Tiago and Altroz with sales numbers of 4,682 and 2,642 units, respectively, in Oct 2024. Though both the aforementioned models recorded a YOY de-growth of 13 percent and 56 percent, respectively. The Safari-Harrier duo registered a sales growth of 56 percent and 3 percent over the same month last year. For those asking, Tata Motors had retailed 1,340 and 1,896 units of the Safari and Harrier in Oct 2023. Last but not the least, Tata Tigor had a rather disappointing outing during the festive season in Oct 2024 with just 926 units sold.
It had a massive de-growth of 41 percent as compared to Oct 2023, where Tata Motors sold 1,563 units. The only gainers were Curvv, Safari and Punch while rest of the models saw a drop in YOY sales.
