Taste of Borneo Carnival connects us all, says Miri MP

MIRI (Nov 11): The ‘Taste of Borneo Carnival’ portrays Sarawak’s unique ways in promoting cultural heritage while fostering a sense of unity and respect among its diverse communities, said Chiew Choon Man. The Miri MP said this in his speech at the ‘Bollywood Nite and Punjabi Mela’ event here on Saturday.

The ‘Bollywood Nite and Punjabi Mela’, as part of the larger 12-day Taste of Borneo celebration, was hosted by the Miri Indian Association and Miri Punjabi Association. “This event showcases the rich and diverse cultural tapestry of Sarawak, and tonight, we are not only celebrating the glamour and excitement of ‘Bollywood’ and the lively traditions of the Punjabi culture, but we are also embracing the essence of unity and diversity. “The Bollywood fashion show, the Punjabi dance performances, and the multiracial unity dance performances, are all shining examples of how our diverse cultures can come together to create something truly beautiful and inspiring,” he said.



Chiew added it was heartening to see the efforts of the two associations in preserving and promoting their culture. “This has taught us of the importance of celebrating joy and togetherness.” Also present was Punjabi Association chairperson Parveen Kaur, and Taste of Borneo 3.
