”She then asked: “Is the email legit?”Scammers often send out emails pretending to be from well-known brands in the hope of catching someone off-guard.The shopper explained the unusual email was about “returned mail and needing to update [her] account”.Her public cry for help was soon addressed by a Target spokesperson.

Replying to the post on X, the shop wrote: “Thanks for reaching out.“We apologize for the long wait time; we’re currently experiencing high call volume at 800-434-6888.”A surge of callers would explain why the shopper encountered a dismal 70-minute wait.

The spokesperson also offered a suggestion for an alternative way the shopper could get answers to her questions. They wrote: “Do you know you can also manage most aspects of your account in Manage my Target Circle Car?” A link to the portal was also provided. While the response gave the shopper another way of pursuing her query, it did not clear up the origin of the mystery email.

But another customer stepped in with an apparent explanation for the mess. They wrote: “You are not the only one.“It seems like the had an update that went bad.

“Everyone is calling in which is why the hold times are insane.“You should be OK.”If this helpful shopper is correct, then the original poster needs not be concerned about their account.

Target was also forced to explain itself after photos emerged of one of its stores which had been completely trashed.Customer Lisa, who goes by @LisaBMcReynolds on X, posted a series of pictures showing the chaotic scenes inside the Flowood, Mississippi store.Target responded directly the same day, writing: “Thank you so much for sharing this with us!“We strive to keep our stores clean and tidy to ensure a pleasant and joyful shopping experience and this is simply not acceptable.
