Tamilnadu natives join hands with Vietnam citizen for online scam; accused arrested from Hyderabad

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Fort police have arrested three persons, including a foreign national, in connection with the case of swindling lakhs of rupees from a Manakkad native on the pretext of earning money through social media and doubling it. The arrested have been identified as Vietnam native Le Quang Trong and Tamil Nadu natives Kannan and Manoj Kumar. They were arrested from Hyderabad.

According to the police, the fraud was committed on the pretext that money can be earned by liking and sharing advertisements of movies on social media and that the money could be doubled through a Telegram app. A team led by Fort police SHO Sivakumar and comprising SI Sreekumar, ASI Prashanth, SCPOs Sreejith, and Lipinraj conducted the investigation, focusing on social media accounts and tracked down the accused. The police said that during interrogation, it was found that the accused had committed more frauds in a similar manner and an investigation is on.
