The project has led to the displacement of several properties in the area. During a meeting with community leaders and stakeholders, Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s commitment to supporting those affected.

“We understand the inconvenience caused by this important project, and we will ensure that all property owners are fairly compensated,” the governor stated. He further assured residents that compensation would be processed through their designated bank accounts, ensuring a smooth and transparent process. Additionally, the governor pledged to allocate new plots of land to affected residents free of charge, allowing them to rebuild their homes.

“We are committed to urban renewal and enhancing the infrastructure in Kano. As the most populous city in Nigeria, it is essential that we set high standards for infrastructure development to meet global standards,” Governor Yusuf added. While speaking, Alhaji Abba Aminu Imam, Chairman of the Tal’udu community expressed concern that; We are grateful for the development, but we urge the government to expedite the compensation process for the affected families,” he said.

In response to these concerns, the government has established an ad-hoc committee to review and ensure that the settlement and compensation process is fair and efficient. Recall that the Tal’udu Overpass is part of a larger infrastructure initiative, which includes the construction of the Underpass Bridge at Kofar Dan’Agundi. These projects, valued at approximately N30 billion, are designed to improve traffic flow, beautify the urban environment, and elevate the overall quality of life in Kano State.
