Glen Powell has addressed the buzz about his potential romance with Sydney Sweeney, his co-star from 'Anyone But You,' amid increasing fan speculation as Powell was all smiles after being spotted in New York. Speculation took off after Sydney ended her engagement to Jonathan Davino last week . The actress was subsequently spotted at Powell's sister Leslie's wedding in Texas, fuelling rumours even further.
While a confirmed relationship remains elusive, Powell seemed thrilled when discussing the topic on 'Today's Jenna and Friends,' revealing that his sister and the 27-year-old 'Euphoria' celebrity are actually good friends, with Powell's sister recently uploading a picture of the actress . Jenna questioned the 36-year-old Top Gun actor about the wedding, causing quite a stir. He responded: "You know, timing is everything in this world, isn't it?" He praised the event, saying, "She and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding.
"It was just such a fun, rowdy wedding. The Powell's know how to crank it up," he further remarked with a diversion from the burgeoning relationship chatter. He further explained that "The Powell's know how to do it right and so all the people that love her were there", which in this case includes Sweeney.
Despite the ongoing conjecture, current reports insist the two stars hold a platonic bond. An insider told The Sun: "I'd say friends - very close relationship and bonded over their work together on the film." Both Glen and Sydney shared the screen in the 2023 flick 'Anyone But You,' where spectators were quick to spot their palpable rapport both during filming and beyond.
The duo has been seen cosying up on the red carpet, sparking rumours, especially after it emerged that Glen's girlfriend, Gigi Paris, stopped following Sydney on Instagram. This fuelled fan theories that the palpable on-screen chemistry might have influenced the split. Sweeney announced her engagement to her beau, millionaire restaurateur Jonathan Davino, in March 2022, with People Magazine breaking the happy news.
In a candid chat with Cosmopolitan that year, the actress opened up about her romantic preferences, making it clear she steers clear of dating within the industry spotlight. She clarified her stance, saying: "I don't date people in the spotlight. "I don't date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it's easiest.
I have a great support system. I'm looking for a best friend. I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day.
