Marking the first day of the Nepali New Year 2082, Swonigha Resort Pvt. Ltd. organized a Bhoomi Puja ceremony in Gundu, Suryabinayak Municipality to officially launch an ambitious hospitality project named "Swonigha.

" The project aims to transform the site into a state-of-the-art luxury destination that will feature an international branded five-star hotel, 60 time-share villas, and multiple recreational and cultural centers. With an estimated investment of over Rs 4.75 billion, the resort is expected to be completed by November 2027.

"Swonigha," derived from a Newari term referring to the Kathmandu Valley-Kathmandu (Ya:), Lalitpur (Yala:), and Bhaktapur (Khwopa:)-seeks to recreate the traditional essence of these three cities. The resort will integrate Nepal's rich intangible heritage, including performing arts, craftsmanship, food culture, and spiritual traditions, according to the press release issued by the company. Situated with panoramic views of the Himalayas and a hill resembling the "Sleeping Buddha," the destination will serve as a hub for cultural tourism, wellness, and nature-based experiences.

The project also includes the integration of the Pilot Baba Ashram, adding a spiritual dimension to the resort, the release further stated. The resort is being developed by Implementing Experts Group (IEG) in joint venture with S&JG Holdings (Australia), led by prominent NRNs Shesh Ghale and Jamuna Ghale Gurung. IEG's Amrit Ratna Shakya and Subarna Krishna Shrestha-known for their expertise in traditional architecture-will oversee implementation.

The resort will focus on MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), destination weddings, yoga and meditation retreats, music and arts events, and outdoor adventures such as rock climbing and hiking. With this project, the developers aim to create a one-of-a-kind luxury and heritage destination promoting Nepalese culture, hospitality, and sustainable tourism while uplifting the local community..
