
Haveri Police have successfully cracked a significant theft case involving a sum of Rs 33 lakh, apprehending an accused individual from Andhra Pradesh, sources reported. The incident transpired on March 6 when Santosh, the victim, withdrew the cash from Union Bank of India. Unaware of being monitored by an interstate gang, Santosh left the money in his car as he entered his home.
Seizing the opportunity, the thieves swiftly shattered the vehicle's glass and decamped with the cash within seconds, fleeing on two motorbikes. Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar revealed that the theft was uncovered around 5:30 pm, prompting an immediate police response. Officers gathered evidence and swiftly formed four dedicated teams to track down the perpetrators.
Thanks to their relentless efforts, police managed to arrest the accused within two days and recover Rs 30 lakh from Andhra Pradesh. (With inputs from agencies.).
