Suspect admits shooting, killing man fleeing on motorcycle after dispute

Eric Mendoza, 41, will be sentenced on Wednesday afternoon for the shooting death of Jeffrey Alan Fisher, 53.

AKRON, Ohio — A New Franklin man accused of shooting and killing a Clinton man who was trying to escape from a dispute on a motorcycle has pleaded guilty to a murder charge. Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich says in a news release that Eric Mendoza, 41, will be sentenced on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 9).

Jeffrey Alan Fisher, 53, was shot around 3:30 a.m. in September 2022, police say.



Fisher rode his motorcycle as he attempted to get away from a domestic violence altercation at a residence on the 5400 block of Dailey Road in New Franklin. Fisher died at the scene of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office..
