As the 2024 presidential election is only two weeks away , we're taking a look at some celebrity political affiliations that fans have found the most surprising. On Tuesday, November 5, America will be casting their ballots to determine who the next President of the United States will be. This year, Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz are facing against Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance .
And while many celebrities have publicly shared their endorsements in recent weeks, we're diving into some of the most unexpected political associations among famous faces in the entertainment industry. In a newly posted Reddit thread, users shared who they found to be the most shocking discoveries when researching famous celebrities' political leanings that seemed to stray from the image that many hold of them. This comes as the WAP hitmaker previously teamed up with the self-described democratic socialist in 2020 for a presidential campaign video meant to appeal to young voters. On Reddit, one fan wrote: "I was just thinking about the fact that both Cardi B and Dick Van Dyke are/were both huge Bernie supporters," and added: "I never expected Cardi to be a republican but the fact that she's supporting a proud socialist is kinda funny to me. Tbh, I completely agree with her position, and it shows that you can be rich af and fine with paying a bit more taxes.
" In response to this, one supporter replied: "Cardi B is very smart and is always on the right side of the conversation. Whether it’s about politics, the pandemic or current inflation & rent prices. I hope she finishes her degree because you can tell she actually cares about what’s happening to the average person & policies.
" As for this years' election, Cardi B has announced that she will not be voting, according to reports from Billboard . Others brought up the fact that actor and stand-up comedian Adam Sandler is allegedly a registered Republican, which was met with a mix of reactions from fans. One person wrote: "Adam Sandler being a Republican always surprises me.
" To which someone countered: "IMO [in my opinion] it's not that surprising when you consider how heteronormative (as well as racist, misogynist and homophobic) a lot of his movies are. And Cambridge Analytica identified people who watch a lot of his movies as being alt-right targets." While someone else shared their disappointment in the news as they wrote: "i heard this for the first time in another thread & im still lowkey waiting for it to be debunked cus like noo.
" Another chimed in: "disappointed yet not surprised." In the thread, users also brought up Hollywood star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's political affiliation and many debated his views. One user wrote: "The Rock being a republican is disappointing.
" To which someone else questioned: "...
is he? He endorsed Biden in 2020, didn't vote in 2016, and said he voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. I'm not a fan of the guy, but that's a weird voting record for a Republican." And someone else replied: "Yeah, totally not a great look.
I just think it's weird to call someone a Republican who hasn't voted for a republican presidential candidate in almost 20 years." While another critic noted: "Most rich people end up a little republican bc they just turn into money hoarding psychos." While the Rock has not revealed who he is voting for in the 2024 election, he did previously endorse Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
As he endorsed Biden, the Red One actor cleared the air about his politics as he wrote on Instagram: "As a political independent and centrist for many years, I’ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republican." Many fans in the thread were also stunned that pop singer Gwen Stefani is a Democrat despite being married to country star Blake Shelton, who has previously backed Donald Trump. In the post, one user said: "A lot of people seem to assume Gwen Stefani is a Republican, especially after coupling with Blake Shelton, but she's been one of the largest private donors to the DNC.
" They went on to add that she "hosted a fundraiser with Michelle Obama at her house, the only president for whom she & Blake have performed is Obama, she's written several left-leaning songs with No Doubt, she has performed at fundraisers for Planned Parenthood & pro-LGBTQ+ organizations." In response, one user replied: "Some couples can take separate stances. It must be really difficult to do that in the States in the past 6 years or so.
I'm slightly to the left of my spouse, but not enough that it would cause us discord." Another added: "Exactly. It's frankly sexist to assume she's suddenly become conservative just because her romantic partner is a country music singer from Oklahoma.
" While someone else interjected: "I like to consider myself a huge stefani stan but this lowkey surprised me!"
