
Surat: After razing purported illegal construction by Rahul Piple on Tuesday, Surat police continued their action with the illegal constructions of three more alleged criminals being razed with help from the Surat Municipal Corporation. Police also got the electricity company to remove illegal power connections. Surat crime branch over the past two days made a list of 1,500 criminals and started acting against them.
Athwalines police reached the home of Sajju Kothari in Jamrukh Gali, who they say has run a gang in Surat for years. Police gave the SMC a list of Kothari's illegal constructions, which were demolished after verification. Illegal electricity connections were also removed.
Kothari has rented out many premises in the area, and police also took action against the illegal renting of properties. After Kothari's home, police went to the office of Arif Mindi, who is accused under GujCTOC . The office was illegally built on govt land and was demolished after verification by the SMC.
Police said Kothari and Mindi have run gangs for years and are involved in many serious offences. Lalgate police have begun drawing up a list of illegal constructions to get them verified by SMC. After verification, Samir Mandava's office on the SMC plot near Chandrashekhar Azad Bridge was also demolished.
Police say Mandava was involved in many crimes, including murder and extortion. A crime branch team went to the house of Altaf Patel, who is accused under GujCTOC and has more than 15 offences registered against him. The team searched his premises.
BOX Navsari police also in action Navsari district police acted against GujCTOC accused Nizam Noor Mohammad Shaikh and got four of his illegal homes demolished with the help of Khergam gram panchayat. Police said Shaikh has 20 cases registered against him and was involved in gang activities in the past. He allegedly built four illegal homes in Kumbharwada of Khergam.
