Superstar jockey hit with disappointing Melbourne Cup blow with Point King ruled out

Superstar jockey Jamie Kah’s Melbourne Cup ride Point King is a shock withdrawal from ‘the race that stops nation’ . Racing Victoria Stewards revealed the news on Saturday (Cox Plate Day), after connections confirmed that Point King would “not be a third acceptor for the Melbourne Cup” on November 5. It also means owner Lloyd Williams is without horse for the race and won’t be securing a record eighth Cup victory. Point King is trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman and was considered a top chance for the Cup, and was going to be carrying a light weight (50.5kg).
