This isn’t William’s first birthday away from Earth, she has previously been in a similar situation during her prolonged spaceflight in 2012. A strong connection to India Williams was born on September 19, 1965, in Euclid, Ohio, to a couple named Bonnie and Deepak Pandya. Deepak Pandya, her father is originally from Gujarat, India, and from the very start, when Sunita was born, was introduced to a strong tie to her Indian heritage.



She has been known to have visited India several times, particularly the village of her forebears, called the village of Jhulasan. If we talk about Williams's education, it commenced at Needham High School in Massachusetts and proceeded with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science from the U.S.

Naval Academy in 1987. Sunita then eventually pursued a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995. A notable career Sunita Williams’s professional journey began at the time she was in the U.

S. Naval Academy, wherein she concluded a comprehensive combat helicopter training after getting appointed as an ensign. She flew significant missions during the time of the Persian Gulf War, and administered no-fly zones in Iraq, while also contributing immensely to Hurricane Andrew relief efforts.

Williams was successfully appointed as a NASA astronaut in June 1998. Her extensive preparation as training consisted of comprehensive coaching in shuttle finishing her rigorous training, she teamed up with the Russian Space Agency for her first-ever mission. She is known for her notable participation in advancing the ISS Robotic Arm and also playing a significant role in the NEEMO2 mission, spending a crucial period of nine days underwater in the Aquarius habitat.

After her first spaceflight, she was promoted to the Deputy Chief of the Astronaut Office. Looking back at her remarkably beautiful yet challenging professional journey which she managed to handle effortlessly, exuding immense confidence, Sunita stated, “In 2003, I was selected for a long-duration mission to the International Space Station (ISS). I flew up on the space shuttle Discovery and stayed at the ISS for six months, during which we did four spacewalks as part of the station’s construction.

” Williams functioned as Flight Engineer for Expedition 32 and as ISS Commander for Expedition 33 , aggregating a total of 322 days in space which is just beyond exceptional. She was ranked as the second female astronaut for cumulative spacewalk duration, with 50 hours and 40 minutes spent outside of the ISS. A new mission At present, Sunita Williams is the navigator for Boeing’s Crew Flight Test Mission onboard the Starliner spacecraft.
