twitter.com/Z0nuwJjxQr — Manchester City (@ManCity) April 12, 2025 Kevin De Bruyne is determined to deliver Champions League qualification as his parting gift to Manchester City. The Belgium playmaker sparked a stunning City comeback as the champions rallied from 2-0 down at the Etihad Stadium to thrash Crystal Palace 5-2 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The long-serving 33-year-old, who scored City’s first goal with an exquisite free-kick, was playing his first home match since it was announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. De Bruyne told the BBC: “I think it was important to score as quickly as possible and change the feeling of the game a bit. I didn’t think we were playing that bad, but the scoreline wasn’t good at all.

We went from there. “I want to go away with a Champions League (place) for this team because they deserve it.” Arsenal’s wafer thin hopes of contesting for the Premier League title were dealt another seismic blow following a 1-1 draw against Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.

Four days after their stunning 3-0 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s men were brought crashing back down to earth with a draw that puts them 10 points adrift of Liverpool having played a game more. Thomas Partey opened the scoring for Arsenal after 61 minutes, but Brentford responded through Yoane Wissa 13 minutes later. Liverpool could even be crowned champions as early as next weekend if Arsenal lose their next league fixture at Ipswich, and Arne Slot’s side see off West Ham and then Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Easter Sunday.

Celtic could be crowned William Hill Premiership champions on Sunday following a 5-1 hammering of Kilmarnock at Parkhead. Boss Brendan Rodgers demanded better from his players following the shock 1-0 defeat at bottom side St Johnstone last weekend and with only 11 minutes played his side were two goals to the good through a terrific strike from midfielder Reo Hatate and a tap-in by striker Daizen Maeda. The hungry Hoops soon added further goals from defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and Hatate again before Danny Armstrong pulled a goal back for the rocked Rugby Park outfit just before the half-hour mark.

But a last-gasp strike by substitute Anthony Ralston at the end of a less dynamic second half restored Celtic’s four-goal margin. WE’RE GOING TO WEMBLEY!! 🎉 #CFCW pic.twitter.

com/AnexXlOut3 — Chelsea FC Women (@ChelseaFCW) April 12, 2025 Aggie Beever-Jones was in shock after scoring a late winner to send Chelsea into the Women’s FA Cup final after beating Liverpool 2-1. Liverpool took the lead on the break in the 21st minute through Olivia Smith, but Erin Cuthbert levelled on the stroke of half-time for the hosts. With the game seemingly destined for extra time, Beever-Jones nodded home in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time to send her side to Wembley.

The Chelsea striker told the BBC post-match: “I think I’m in shock a little bit still. It’s just the Chelsea mentality of never giving up. I’m just delighted I got on the scoresheet and helped the team today.
